Critter Corner: Giving Back this Holiday Season

Dear Kiwi and Mango,

The holidays are my favorite time of year. This year, my family will exchange gifts as normal, but we are realizing that we have way too many things. We are a bit late for this year, but in the future, we’d like to do something a little different as a family to help others. I think it’s a great way to teach the grandchildren about giving back to those in need. Do you have any ideas for charity projects we can do as a multi-generational family?

Thanks for your help and happy holidays!

Dear Giff,

The holiday season is a time for warmth, generosity, and coming together to support one another. But for many American families, this season brings additional challenges—especially for those struggling to meet essential needs such as clothing and baby supplies. It is so kind of your family to want to give back. Our family at the Farr Law Firm recently chose a heartwarming charity project that you can consider for your own family.

At the Farr Law Firm, we believe in the power of community support, and this year, we’re thrilled to participate in the United States Postal Service’s Operation Santa campaign. We chose this initiative for a chance to make an impact in the lives of families who need it most. We sincerely hope to help to make this season a little brighter and filled with hope by providing essential items and fulfilling holiday wishes.

What Does “Operation Santa” Mean?

When you adopt a family with the USPS Operation Santa program, you’re joining a network of compassionate people who are committed to ensuring that a family who expressed a need won’t go without during the holidays. Through their letter writing campaign, you can choose a letter and select items that go directly to a family. Families often include single moms, single dads, and caregivers who are working hard to provide for their loved ones. From toys and books to warm clothing and boots, every item purchased helps lighten the load for a family, allowing them to focus on celebrating the season with laughter, joy, and peace of mind.

Why Our Support Matters

The effects of financial hardship can be particularly difficult to manage during the holiday season, as many parents feel the weight of wanting to create a joyful experience for their children. Unfortunately, when resources are stretched thin, families are often forced to choose between holiday cheer and basic necessities. That’s where you we come in. According to Seresa El-Gafy, Asset Protection, Guardianship, and Probate Paralegal at the Farr Law Firm and project organizer “Although many of the Letters to Santa are written by children whose requests suggest that most of their basic needs have been met, there are also many letters written by parents humbly seeking assistance with providing their children with winter clothes, boots, shoes, and maybe a few small toys.  These parents just want their young children to know that Santa hasn’t forgotten them.  Everyone in our firm enthusiastically supported this project, allowing us provide Christmas morning excitement to seven children.”

Each year, the Farr Law Firm staff tradition is to choose a different endeavor to help others during the holiday season. After all, when we support each other, we foster a resilient and compassionate community. In addition, by easing the financial burden on families, we’re truly helping to create an environment where they can focus on togetherness and joy.

How Operation Santa Works

To participate in Operation Santa, Farr Law Firm staff members chose the items they wished to purchase and brought them to be wrapped. Together, we wrapped each item, labeled it “from Santa” and got it ready to bring to a deserving family. We hope we were able to help spread joy because the more people who come together as a team to help others, the greater the impact we can have together.

This holiday season, let’s give the gift of warmth, support, and peace of mind to families who need it most. We hope that as a team we’re creating a network of compassion and that it uplifts families beyond the holiday season.

How You Can Help

Every year, hopeful people send letters to Santa with their wishes for the holiday season. Discover how you can be part of the magic by making these wishes come true.
